Sharing Scripture

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

2 Timothy 3:16

Imagine a city that legally requires every taxi driver to paint a Bible scripture onto the back of their taxi! If the driver does not, they may lose their license or be fined. Over twenty years ago, in an attempt to lower crime, the city of Tagbilaran, Philippines, passed a profound law. Each taxi driver registers and is assigned a unique verse; this assures that no two taxi scriptures are alike. The taxis are the main source of transportation, therefore, commuters are literally faced with a new Bi- ble verse every day. “The Bible Wheels” campaign has resulted in closer families and lowered crime.

This story illustrates that the power of God’s Word is transforming! Any one of us, when we read, hear, or sing God’s Word, are transformed, stirred up and renewed! We feel joy, hope, love and encouragement. In turn, when we share His Word with others, seeds are planted. Perhaps it sprouts into a deeper desire to understand and know who authored these words. Let’s be encouraged and challenged by the city of Tagbilaran and find ways to present God’s Word to those around us.

Prayer: Dear Father, I think it is such a blessing that the city of Tagbilaran is required to paint your Word on their taxis! Oh what a sight that must be! I’m so thankful that we live in a city/country that allows the freedom of speech and that we could paint scripture on the back of our cars if we so desire. Lord, please fill us with your Spirit to embolden us each day to find new ways to share you and your Word with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. I love story. Imagine, everywhere they look they see God’s Word before them. I know it is bound to sink in and change their behavior, their lives. I bet it helps them to memorize scripture and think of those precious children learning to read what is on the Taxi in front of them! May we be so eager to go to God’s Word and breathe it into our very souls and , yes, to share it with others. Blessings, Susan
