Today is a Brand New Day

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you. Psalm 37:5

Today is a brand new day. What will you do with it? Will you pull the covers up over your head? Place your feet firmly on the floor to face the day? Or sluggishly head down the hall for your hot coffee? What is the first thing you do in the morning?

I admit to them all including today, in the wee dark early hours, grabbing my phone at my nightstand to see if the weather app said it was snowing. I am so excited for it to snow! I have a strong urge to make some snow angels! However, when I saw that it wasn’t snowing, I slowly pulled the covers up for 10 minutes of quiet time to gather my thoughts before starting the day.

I drifted in and out from my to do list to praying for my kids and my husband. Although I sensed the pressures of the insurmountable concerns, I felt at peace knowing that ultimately, God is in control and wants the best for our lives. It’s these brief moments of peace that remind me that the Holy Spirit is with me always and that even during stressful, unnerving, difficult times I can be still and feel His peace.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you that You desire to intercede for us daily. May we keep our focus on You and recognize the peace and joy that comes only from You. Thank you. In your Son’s precious name, Jesus. Amen.
