Resilient Because of Him

“We all fade as a leaf and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” Isaiah 64:6b

No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the LORD. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” Jeremiah 31:34

I don’t feel inspired: I am tired. My weeks of lack of sleep leaves me yearning for deep rest. I feel faded, burdened by iniquities of my own and those around me. I feel numb like a dried-up leaf that is being blown from one place to the next. I can’t bear the heaviness of the world; the sin that flaunts before me. It oppresses me and causes me to stumble. I no longer feel that I can move forward in doing the things that I have been called to do. I feel as though I started out in a large body of water headed to the other side and now I float directionless without a peek of land before me.

But then, I pray. I turn to the only true source of strength. I share with Him my hurts, fears, and concerns. He leans in and listens. My tears finally come forth and He comforts me. I open the Bible to hear His heart and to gain wisdom and perspective. I focus in on His promises of forgiveness and restoration. I search Psalm 92 to begin praising Him for His love and faithfulness. I no longer feel like a dried-up leaf. I see that I am planted in the house of the Lord and I shall flourish in His courts. I trust that through Him, I will bear fruit that is bright and colorful, sweet and nourishing that declares the goodness of God.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your loving guidance. Help me to remember that I am firmly planted, unshakeable and resilient because of You. And that by the power of the Holy Spirit I will flourish and be able to continue to encourage others towards You. In Jesus’ name. Amen
