The Lord is With You

I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. Psalm 16:8

What is it that you have been longing to do? Some challenge or adventure? Have you been thinking about seeking out an old friend, but you’re not sure about how you will be received? What about that destination you’ve been wanting to visit, but fear of the unknown holds you at home. Or maybe you would like to write a blog post, sharing your own lessons in life, but fear of failure or what others may think of you holds you back.

Clark was experiencing some of that fear as he stood on a bridge, mesmerized by the sparkling water. He could see flashes of movement that drew him ever closer to the edge, but there was no railing on this bridge, so the fear of falling and his father’s hand kept him from getting as close as he wanted. At 19 months of age, Clark was learning some adventures led to skinned knees and bruised palms.

However, this time his daddy encouraged him to take a closer look, to lay down on the bridge and look over the side, because he would hold onto his legs. So, that’s what Clark did and what joy and excitement followed. He could almost touch the water as he gazed at the fish swimming just below the surface. There was no fear in his heart, for he could feel his father holding him fast. Life is an adventure with your father at your side.

Believers in Jesus Christ are not alone. The Lord is always with us. If the Holy Spirit has laid something on your heart to do, take that step of faith and give it a try, for the Lord is with you, He’s got a firm grasp on you.

Not every adventure ends the way we want, but every step in faith draws us closer to the Lord, grows us in maturity and teaches us something new. Many failures are the steppingstones to great success.

So stop gazing longingly at the water, the Lord is with you, go in for a closer look.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that I can know you are always with me, help me trust you more so that I can do the things you have called me to do. I love you Lord. Amen.
