Freedom to Praise

”From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the LORD is to be praised.” Psalm 113:3

“Let them praise the name of the Lord, for at his command they were created, and he established them for ever and ever—he issued a decree that will never pass away.” Psalm 148:5-6

This past Fourth of July week was filled with bright colors, deep booms, and brilliant cracks. Some of you may have enjoyed the fireworks, but I was in awe of God’s display of dark dimensional thunderclouds, brilliant pink and purple sunsets, bright flashes of light, deep rumbles and house-shaking cracks of thunder. His Majesty was in great splendor and caused me to praise Him for His power. The Fourth of July reminded me of how blessed we are in the United States of America to have the freedom to publicly worship and praise God.

Recently, in a country other than the United States, a group of 30 men who had been gathering in a home to worship and praise God were arrested and disappeared. Never to be seen again. No one knows if they are in jail or if they have been killed. It is illegal to worship God in their country. We, in the USA, have the freedom to worship God: a mighty privilege in our country not to be taken lightly. Christians have the highest honor and privilege to praise God, which has been given to us from the shed blood of Christ. In His death, we are free from sin and eternal death. This alone, is reason to praise our Creator.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the reminders of Your strength and power this week. Help us to continue to see You in all creation and to praise You freely. Lord, please protect Your followers across the world as they bravely seek and praise You. In Your Son’s name, Jesus. Amen.

  1. Awesome praise! So very much needed in times of great celebration, but also such an amazing gift in times of sorrow….
