Sharing Scripture

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,”  2 Timothy 3:16

Imagine a city that legally requires every taxi driver to paint a Bible scripture onto the back of their taxi! If the driver does not, they may lose their license or be fined. Twenty-two years ago, in an attempt to lower crime, the city of Tagbilaran, Philippines, passed a profound law. Each taxi driver registers and is assigned a unique verse; this assures that no two taxi scriptures are alike. The taxis are the main source of transportation, therefore, commuters are literally faced with a new Bible verse every day. “The Bible Wheels” campaign has resulted in closer families and lowered crime.

This story illustrates that the power of God’s Word is transforming! As the painter carefully details the scripture onto the back of the taxi, he is changed by reading and writing God’s Word. As the passengers read the scriptures, they think twice about their actions and what is truly meant by the scripture. As the taxi driver is assigned his verse, he ponders God’s Word and researches it within the context of the Bible.

Any one of us, when we read, hear, or sing God’s Word, are transformed, stirred up and renewed! We feel joy, hope, love and encouragement. In turn, when we share His Word with others, seeds are planted. Perhaps, it sprouts into a deeper desire to understand and know Who authored these words. At the very least, it could spread joy, love, peace and encouragement to others. Let’s be encouraged and challenged by the city of Tagbilaran and find ways to present God’s Word to those around us.

Prayer: Dear Father, I think it is such a blessing that the city of Tagbilaran is required to paint your Word on their taxis! Oh what a sight that must be! I’m so thankful that we live in a city/country that allows the freedom of speech and that we could paint scripture on the back of our cars if we so desire. Lord, please fill us with Your Spirit to embolden us each day to find new ways to share You and Your Word with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. I love this Tiffany! Oh that all our cities required that! Maybe in the Millennium? God’s Word does change us, and I thank the Lord He continues to grow me daily, with His Encouraging Word.
