Filled with His Glory 


But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  2 Corinthians 12:9 

And you have been made complete in Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. Colossians 2:10

I recently returned from a weekend at the coast with a dear friend. I was unpacking and putting things away when I found myself obsessing over the way my umbrella wasn’t wrapping perfectly. I kept undoing it, creasing it, wrapping it, pulling the edges down, but no matter what I did I couldn’t get it perfect. Hmmm, how many other things in my life do I try to make perfect, but I can’t? I wrestled with perfection for a bit and decided to look up the definition. 

Perfect: 1. having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be. 2. absolute; complete (used for emphasis). 3. make (something) completely free from faults or defects, or as close to such a condition as possible.

One thing I’ve come to fully realize over this last year and a half is that God is in control and only through Him am I made perfect. Although I am weak and broken, He is perfect in me. I am complete because He dwells in me. God has always dwelled with his people, as broken and weak as you and me. He never leaves us, because He resides in us, and so no broken moment is wasted. In our brokenness, He strengthens us to be made perfect like Him. Do not despair when you stumble, that moment of weakness is merely a crack that will be filled with His glory. The more cracks we have in our vessel the more He can shine from within us. 

You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. Psalm 16:11

Prayer: Dear loving Father, thank you for your grace. May we all be filled with your glory for others to see your joy, power, and perfection in our lives. In Jesus name, Amen!
