The Strength of my Heart

 “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26

“Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble by the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Cor 1:3-4

Weariness will come: trust Jesus for His strength.

My heart was heavy Thursday when I received a disconcerting email. I was so disappointed with the distressing news that I became sick to my stomach. I was letting fear and worry grip me, because of something that I could not control. My husband reminded me that God is in control and has been all along and to not be afraid. Peace came over me as I turned it over to the Lord. When we suffer, we can choose to let fear grip us, or turn to Jesus for His care. His grace, love, and mercy will strengthen us; and His peace will comfort us. As we are strengthened, we can show others that our strength and joy come from the Lord. Others will be drawn to us as they see His strength in us. We can comfort them and they will want to know who Jesus is as they see Him in us. Therefore, be comforted by God and trust in His grace.

Come Closer to Me

Barney E. Warren, pub.1900

When I get weary with toils of the day,

Off in the secret I kneel and pray;

There I can hear my Lord sweetly say,

“Come closer, my child, to me.”

Closer, my child, to me,

Closer, my child, to me;

Closer, my child, to me,

Come closer, come closer,

Closer, my child, to me.

When all around in this cold, dark land

Nothing encourages me to stand,

Jesus says, holding me by the hand,

“Come closer, my child, to me.”

When in afflictions I suffer long,

Jesus comes bringing this lovely song:

“Trust in my grace, and you shall be strong,

“Come closer, my child, to me.”

When I am meeting with trials severe,

When I am parting with loved ones here,

Looking to Jesus, His voice I can hear:

“Come closer, my child, to me.”

Prayer from Debbie McKee: “Lord, let this blog go out to all who need to read it! The enemy is at work making us feel like we do not belong, like we do not belong to you, Jesus! But your Word tells us that we are yours! You created each one of us uniquely! And you give us the freedom, the love and the grace to be the best me I can be!”  Thank you, Lord, for calling us closer to receive your grace, love, and strength. In His precious name, Jesus. Amen

“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.   Romans 12:4-8
