2 Kings 5:6-7
The letter to the king of Israel said, “With this letter I present my servant Naaman, I want you to heal him of his leprosy.” When the king of Israel read it, he tore his clothes in dismay and said, “This man sends me a leper to heal! Am I God, that I can kill and give life? He is only trying to find an excuse to invade us again.”
The King of Aram sent the letter to the King of Israel, expecting his authority and power would accomplish what he wanted; the healing of Naaman, the commander of his armies. For the King had heard there was a prophet of the Lord in Israel that could heal.
His powerful letter accomplished nothing. He could not buy a miracle, or intimidate the King of Israel into doing what he wanted, for only the Lord alone can really help us in our time of need.
When we are struggling with our own problems and trials remember the acronym H.E.L.P. (By Debbie McKee)
H= My help comes from the Lord.
Psalm 121:1-2 I look up to the mountains, does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made the heavens and the earth!
E= God encourages us.
Psalm 10:17 You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry.
L= Let the Lord fight your battles.
2 Chronicles 20:17 You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you.
P= Praise the Lord and Thank Him
Psalm 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
Prayer: You alone O Lord are the only one that can really help us. We can figure out temporary fixes on our own, but they never last and they don’t give us the peace and joy that our hearts long for. Humble us and help us turn to you in our hour of need.
Thank you 🙏🏼!
